A pre-bid meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM at State University of New York College of Technology at Alfred, Physical Plant Trailer, Upper College Drive, Alfred, New York 14802. Contact Daniel Gaffney at 716-512-5413. Prospective bidders are strongly encouraged to attend. The purpose is to observe actual site conditions and review Contract Document requirements.

MacKenzie Complex at Alfred State College, housing approximately 1,100 students, is the largest residence hall on campus, and is comprised of 4 wings and a central Quad. The Phase 2 Renovation Project includes the renovation of MacKenzie South, partial renovation of MacKenzie East and associated site improvements for both buildings. Phase 2 will be renovated as a three-phase project with each phase addressing approximately 24,000 sf of building. Exterior renovation will include roof replacement (standing seam and EPDM), limited window replacement, construction of new entrance vestibules and the recladding of concrete wall panels. Interior renovations will include reconstruction of existing bathrooms as well as reconstruction of public and support spaces. Student rooms shall receive all new finishes. Mechanical and plumbing systems will be reconstructed as required by reconfiguration and will include replacement of heating mains, ventilation systems and domestic hot water. A fire protection system will be installed throughout the entire building. All power, lighting, data, CATV and fire alarm systems shall be replaced. Hazardous material abatement and removal will include gypsum wall board, VAT, pipe insulation as ACM and caulk as ACM and/or PCB. Site improvements will include extension/installation of site utilities and storm water system as well as concrete walks, asphalt paving, granite curbs and retaining walls.
There will be one contract awarded for the work of this Project: General Construction Contract estimated at $11,500,000.00 to $12,750,000.00.
This ad is for expressions of interest only. Bidders for the construction of this project will be selected only after the review and evaluation of the qualification packages received in response to this notice.
Interested firms must submit Expression of Interest (EOI) packages to demonstrate their experience by 2:00 P.M. Friday October 20, 2017. Firms shall provide five (5) copies of the EOI packages, with Tabs in the following sequence:
Tab 1 - Documentation of a minimum of five (5) years experience in similar work and provide a list of five (5) projects of similar size scope and complexity to the referenced project, which have been completed, or substantially completed in the last ten (10) years. For each project, the following needs to be provided; project designer, firm name and contact information, project title and location/facility, a brief description of the project, total construction cost, and construction start and substantial completion date.
Tab 2 - Three (3) samples of project schedules utilized for previous projects.
Tab 3 - The table of contents of the firm’s written Safety Program.
Tab 4 - The firm’s experience modification rating documentation issued by the Workers Compensation Board (EMR Rating).
Tab 5 - Bonding Capacity documentation from Surety Company (single and aggregate).
Tab 6 - A completed NYS Vendor Responsibility Questionnaire For-Profit Construction (CCA-2). Electronic copies can be obtained from the Dormitory Authority, State of New York (DASNY) web site www.dasny.org.
Tab 7 - Proposed project team with résumés.
Tab 8 – List of Potential Subcontractors to be utilized on this Project. Demonstration of M/WBE participation must be identified.
Tab 9 – Anticipated workload for the period during which this Project will be in Construction.
Five (5) copies of the EOI shall be submitted to the Construction Contracts Unit as noted below. EOI packages will be reviewed by a panel comprised of Alfred State College, DASNY, and Design Professional representatives.
Firms deemed qualified from this solicitation will be included on a short list and invited to submit a bid in the near future. Firms not following the EOI package requirements as noted shall be considered non-responsive to the
