BROOKLYN, New York – The NYU Tandon School of Engineering today will preview Brooklyn’s first cleanroom, where scientists and engineers from across greater New York will fabricate advanced materials and devices on the micro- and nano-scale in order to push the boundaries of established scientific principles and future technology. Such fabrication facilities are essential to experiments in nanotechnology, quantum computing, minute biosensors that could revolutionize medicine, ultra-fast electronics, hardware that is secure from hackers, and much more.

Gerrard P. Bushell, President and CEO of DASNY, announced today the completion of the $17.8 million Phase One renovation of Alfred State, the SUNY College of Technology’s MacKenzie Complex. Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the grand opening of the SBH Binghamton Evaluation Center, a new addiction treatment facility at the former Broome County Developmental Center. The facility will include 50 Medically Supervised Withdrawal and Stabilization beds, also referred to as Detox beds, and will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services is providing $1.5 million in annual operational funding for the program. Syracuse Behavioral Health was selected as the facility operator through a Broome County Request for Proposals process.
New York State Homes and Community Renewal and the Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley today announced that the final phase of the Center’s $900,000 renovation is complete, allowing the organization to expand and better serve more than 1,500 people each year seeking support for a variety of physical, intellectual, and emotional disabilities.
