Join DASNY for a thought-provoking women’s leadership event in celebration of Women’s History Month.
Dr. Gerrard P. Bushell, DASNY President and CEO, will begin this insightful conversation by conducting an interview with Dr. Joyce F. Brown, FIT President.
Dr. Joyce F. Brown, president of FIT since 1998, is a highly regarded educator, academic administrator and public higher education advocate. At FIT, she has strategically built faculty ranks, increased technology, enhanced student services, expanded the curriculum with innovative programs and renovated facilities. She has invigorated FIT’s culture with groundbreaking initiatives in diversity and sustainability---and positioned it as a prime problem-solving innovation center for the design and fashion industries. Prior to FIT, she held numerous senior positions at the City University of New York, including acting president of Bernard Baruch College and vice chancellor of the University. She earned a PhD in counseling psychology from NYU and is a professor emerita at CUNY’s Graduate School and University Center. She has also served as a NYC deputy mayor in the David Dinkins administration. Dr. Brown is a director of the Ralph Lauren Corporation and a trustee of the New York Economic Club.
