DASNY provides a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees including, but not limited to, the following:
Employees and their eligible dependents may participate in a choice of programs that cover a significant portion of doctors’ and hospital bills and major medical expenses. Full-time employees with individual health insurance pay up to 16% of the premium, while those employees with family coverage pay up to 29% of the premium.
Employees and their eligible dependents may participate in the Emblem Health Dental Program. Coverage begins on the first day of the month after the employee has completed six full calendar months of continuous employment.
Employees and their eligible dependents may participate in the DAVIS Vision Care Program. Coverage begins on the first day of the month after the employee has completed a 56-day waiting period.
Deferred Compensation Plan
Employees may defer wages, up to the maximum allowed under IRS Section 457, from federal, state and local taxation. Deferred monies are invested in a choice of mutual funds, including stable income, money market or equities. In addition, employees over the age of 50, and those within 3 years of retirement, can contribute additional amounts. New York State Employees’ Retirement System
Full-time, permanent employees must become members of the New York State Employee’s Retirement System. Effective April 1, 2012 the NYS Retirement System implemented Tier 6. Additional information may be found at: www.osc.state.ny.us
Employees receive 13 days (97.5 hours) per year in vacation/annual leave plus additional time based on years of service. A maximum of 40 days (300 hours) may be carried over from one year to the next.
Employees receive 12 paid holidays per year.
Employees receive 5 days (37.5 hours) per year to attend to personal business. Personal leave accruals may not be carried over to from one year to the next.
Employees receive 13 days (97.5 hours) per year. Sick leave accrues each pay period and may be carried over from year to year up-to a maximum of 200 days (1500 hours).
NY’s 529 College Savings Program
Employees are able to set aside money toward future college expenses for any pre-determined beneficiary. The plan allows for a NY state income tax deduction pursuant to IRS regulations. For additional information, visit: https://www.nysaves.org/content/home.html.
Employee Assistance Program
DASNY offers a free and confidential service that provides professional counseling and referral services.
Flexible Spending Program
Employees have the option to enroll in any of three flexible spending accounts (FSA’s) including medical, dependent care and premium expense. The plan is designed to allow employees to set aside pre-tax contributions to pay for eligible expenses.
Long Term Disability Insurance
DASNY offers an employee paid long-term disability program through payroll deduction that employees may join within their first 30 days of employment or annually during open enrollment. A medical exam is required if enrollment is not within the first 30 days of employment. Long term disability is 100% employee funded.
Mass Transportation Benefit
Full-time employees with an official workstation in the greater New York City metropolitan area who use mass transportation to commute to and from work may be eligible for partial monthly reimbursement for commuting expenses.
DASNY provides employees training and development opportunities to improve job-related skills and acquire additional job-related specialized knowledge. Courses are offered both online, on-site, and off-site depending on the nature of the particular training.
After six months of service, employees taking an approved course(s) at any college, university, or professional/technical school registered with the State of New York Department of Education may be eligible for partial tuition reimbursement.
