Lake Ontario Resiliency & Economic Development Initiative (REDI)

Program Overview

On May 29, 2019, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced the formation of the Lake Ontario Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative, or REDI, commission. This multi-agency task force is charged with developing a plan to harden infrastructure along Lake Ontario's waterfront while strengthening the region's local economies, which are heavily dependent on summer tourism. The State has committed up to $300 million to rebuild the shoreline, as well as improve resiliency in flood prone regions along Lake Ontario.

Funding Authority Role

As one of the designated funding authorities for REDI, DASNY is pleased to be collaborating with the REDI Commission, the Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River communities and other State entities to advance these important projects.
