University at Albany Summer Construction Projects Completed by DASNY

DASNY and SUNY team up for millions of dollars in upgrades

ALBANY, N.Y. (September 11, 2017) -- Gerrard P. Bushell, President and CEO of DASNY, announced today more than $5 million in upgrades have been completed at the University at Albany. The work is part of approximately $30 million in upgrades to SUNY campuses throughout New York State completed by DASNY over the course of 90 days – ready in time for students to begin the fall semester.

Roofs were replaced at the University at Albany’s Van Rensselaer and Ryckman halls on Dutch Quad. Waterbury and Alden halls on Alumni Quad were given a fresh coat of paint. New showers were installed in Alden Hall. The second year of a three-year upgrade to elevators in the Eastman, Stuyvesant and Livingston towers was completed with new equipment and software. Livingston Tower also received an exterior coating to enhance durability and renew the color.

The projects were financed through DASNY's SUNY Dormitory Facilities Program, which issues low-cost, tax-exempt bonds supported by student residence hall fees.

“Delivering projects with speed and efficiency is DASNY’s calling card and we are proud to have completed these upgrades at the University at Albany on a tight schedule,” said DASNY President & CEO Gerrard P. Bushell. “Students returning this fall will find modern, supportive living environments that will help them develop into the next generation of leaders, making this work central to the growth of New York’s economy.”

"Addressing deferred maintenance and quality facility upgrades in residence halls is a perennial challenge, especially given the short window of time to get such work accomplished," said University at Albany Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration John Giarusso. "We’re very pleased to have completed the work this past summer with DASNY."
