The Dormitory Authority joins with more than 25 public and private agencies to announce their sponsorship of the two-day 12 th Annual Competitive Edge Conference at Manhattan’s Museum of Jewish Heritage located at 36 Battery Place at Battery Park City. Themed “The Future Is Now:” the conference, which takes place Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29 focuses on helping small, minority and women-owned businesses enhance their bottom line and gain access to contracting opportunities throughout the New York Tri-state area’s estimated $30 billion in procurement opportunities. The Conference kicks off with the Annual Market Place and Sponsor’s Reception on September 28 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. Business owners will have an opportunity to network and market their products and services directly to major corporations, government agencies, and non-profits organizations. The Conference resumes on September 29 at 8:00am with workshops that address issues affecting the small business community. Workshops include: Access to Capital, Bonding and Insurance; Understanding Contract Terms and Conditions – “A Layman’s Approach to Contract Law; and How to Effectively Market Your Business.

As a reminder, the Dormitory Authority is hosting its 20 th Annual Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises Conference in Albany on October 28-30. The weekend conference is titled “Networking: 20 Years of Dedication to the MWSBE Community” and will be held at the Albany Marriott Hotel located at 189 Wolf Road.

Each year the Dormitory Authority holds a conference specifically dedicated to increasing job opportunities for small-, women- and minority-owned businesses. Our annual Minority, Women and Small Business Enterprises (M/W/SBE) Conference is an integral part of the Authority’s Opportunity Programs, designed to assist these businesses in competing for and receiving contracts on Authority projects. Over the past few years, we have consistently had more than 500 attendees, including 400 attendees from the private sector and more than 100 attendees from the public sector.
