NEW YORK – The last piece of structural steel was installed today at the site of the new DNA laboratory for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of New York City. The Dormitory Authority is supervising construction of the $243.7 million project.
Scheduled for completion at the end of 2006, the DNA Laboratory will be a state-of-the-art structure, with crime labs that will allow forensic scientists and medical examiners to recreate crime scenes and test for many kinds of forensic evidence. The 15-story superstructure will have two stories below ground.
Perkins Eastman Architects is the design consultant for the project, and a joint venture of Gilbane Construction and TDX Construction Corp. is the construction manager.
DASNY’s project team is headed by Program Director Robert Walsh, Chief Project Manager Nicholas D’Ambrosio, Project Manager Edward Wagner, Assistant Project Manager Eduardo James and Field Representative Frank De Silva.
