DASNY Staff Member to Speak at Competitive Edge Conference
Event geared toward increasing M/WBE participation in public construction projects
The Dormitory Authority’s Michael Clay, Upstate Regional Manager for the Office of Opportunity Programs, will be the Master of Ceremonies at the Competitive Edge’s 11th Annual Conference titled “Imagine…the Economic Reality.” The two-day event, which begins on Monday evening August 9th with an opening reception, and concludes on Tuesday August 10th with a full day of plenary sessions and afternoon seminars, including a closing networking/reception, will be held at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place in New York City.
For the last four years the conference has offered a special networking opportunity for attendees called “The Market Place.” Conference goers will have the opportunity to meet major general contractors, key procurement specialists and government agency officials to learn what it takes to do business as a prime or subcontractor. The Market Place will take place from 2:30 to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 10th. The Dormitory Authority is proud to sponsor and participate in this networking event.
The Dormitory Authority’s Office of Opportunity Programs’ mission is to assist and encourage minority and women-owned businesses to participate in Authority projects statewide.
For more details on registering for the conference, contact Anthony Peterson at the Battery Park City Authority at 212-417-2337 or log on to: www.The-Competitive-Edge.org
SAVE THE DATE!
As a reminder, the Dormitory Authority is hosting its 19th Annual Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises Conference in Albany on October 29-31. The weekend conference is titled “Networking: Building Relationships One Job at a Time” and will be held at the Albany Marriott Hotel on Wolf Road in Colonie, New York.
Each year the Dormitory Authority holds a conference specifically dedicated to increasing job opportunities for small-, women- and minority-owned businesses. Our annual Minority, Women and Small Business Enterprises (M/W/SBE) Conference is an integral part of the Authority’s Opportunity Programs, designed to assist these businesses in competing for and receiving contracts on Authority projects. Over the past few years, we have consistently had more than 500 attendees, including 400 attendees from the private sector and more than 100 attendees from the public sector.
Look for registration information in the mail in early September and on our website by the middle of August. If you’re not on our mailing list, please contact Davida Twitty at conference@dasny.org or 518-257-3381.
