About DASNY

The Dormitory Authority is a public benefit corporation serving the citizens of New York State through construction and financing programs. It was created in 1944 by legislation authorizing the Authority to finance and construct dormitories for State teachers' colleges (hence the name).

The purpose of the Authority is to finance and build facilities for higher education, health care providers, court facilities and certain nonprofit institutions and public agencies. The Authority issues tax-exempt securities, then lends the proceeds to clients to finance the construction, rehabilitation, or equipping of facilities needed to furnish services to New Yorkers. Authority clients include such diverse organizations as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Siena College, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, psychiatric centers operated by the State Office of Mental Health, the City and State Universities of New York, and the New York Unified Court System.

DASNY's Communications and Marketing Unit is responsible for communications with the investment community, construction vendors and contractors, and the general public. If you would like additional information about the Dormitory Authority, please send us an E-mail to DABONDS@dasny.org or call the Communications Unit at 518-257-3380.
