DASNY is currently managing 82 major capital construction projects for health care, higher education and government clients across the state. These projects provide the facilities that enable these clients to provide needed services to New York's students, the ill, aged, or disabled, and state agencies. Many projects are financed by DASNY bonds.

Current Projects in Albany County

Capital District Psychiatric Center
Rehabilitate deteriorated concrete decks and columns.

Griffin Laboratory
The new building will contain approximately 15,000 to 25,000 square feet of highly specialized laboratory and AAALAC certifiable vivarium space. It will be located near the security access checkpoint to facilitate delivery of specimens which takes place 24/7 without violating the campus security perimeter. The overall project cost is anticipated to be $20,000,000.

Griffin Laboratory
A replacement facility for the existing central utility plant (CUP) at Griffi n Laboratory is planned. The existing plant was built in 1971 and is 4000 SF . The 3 high pressure boilers (1970 vintage) are past their useful life. Fue l oil tanks are 35 yrs old, single walled, and require replacement with this project. Many existing individual building chillers are near life expectanc y and should be replaced and centrally located in the CUP. The above ground u tility distribution system is in fair condition while the underground is orig inal Rickwell, direct buried, and in poor condition. Both need to be upgrade d and replaced. Water and electrical for the CUP needs to be reviewed and upg raded as needed. The existing CUP is operating at maximum capacity and reliab ility has constrained activities on this campus. The campus requires a new re liable, flexible fuel source, energy efficient CUP to meet current demand, pl anned and future construction.

SUNY at Albany
Livingston Tower window replacement and facade restoration.

SUNY at Albany
The Scope of Work for this project consists of the architectural and engineering design and construction services to rehabilitate the Mohawk Tower on Indian Quad on the University at Albanys Uptown Campus. The Design Consultant will be responsible for the architectural and engineering design services to renovate the 24-story Mohawk Tower to bring the building up to current standards, codes and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, the renovation of the existing interior spaces, the replacement of exterior windows and doors, the replacement of the heating and ventilation systems, the replacement of plumbing systems, equipment and fixtures, the repairs to the exterior precast concrete, the replacement of the existing elevators, the installation of a fire protection system and the removal of hazardous materials. Feasibility study has been developed and is available. It is anticipated that the building will be renovated and be ready for occupancy the Fall of 2014.

Construction of a new 86 bed, 2 story, 112754 SF Childrens Building and a 2 story, 48,580 SF Central Services Building.

Bronx Civil/Civil Supreme Court
Architectural interior renovations/decompressions/modernization of the Civil and Civil Supreme Courthouse and related agencies. With the relocation of the criminal term parts from 851 Grand Concourse, the courthouse will be occupied by the civil team of the supreme court, the surrogates court and the civil court.

Bronx Community College
Construction of the new North Instructional Building.

Bronx Family/ Criminal Court
Architectural Interior Renovations/decompressions/modernization of the Family and Criminal Courthouse and related agencies. The vacated criminal court space will be made available to address the urgent needs of the family court. It will provide relief for the family court and ancillary agency staff throughout the entire building. It will increase pre- arraignment holding cell capacity.

Construct new 40,000 square foot mortuary for OCME on the grounds of Jacobi M edical Center in the Bronx.

Provide the planning, pre-construction, architectural and engineering design services, along with the construction phase, for a new facility, consisting of two floors and a basement will operate as a full service ambulatory care center and will provide primary and specialty medical services; diagnostic radiology; full dental care and pharmacy services.

Perform feasibility study for the boiler plant upgrade.

The consultant shall conduct a preschematic design study for the Carroll St. bldg. at Medgar Evers College for egress code compliance as well as ADA accessibility, and identify opportunitites for associated upgrades and renovations . In addition, the consultant shall work with CUNY and the college to identify and plan for interior renovation projects driven both by the state of aging interior finishes and MEP systems as well as programmatic changes anticipated for the building's usage for the next 20 years.

Make necessary structural repairs to the concrete slab to create a secure fou ndation at the frist floor of the Pearl Street Building.

Construction for the first floor renovation and structural repairs in the Allied Health Center (Pearl Street Bldg) which will create classroom and office spaces for the college's Advertising Design and Graphic Arts Department. Also includes structural repairs to the first floor concrete slab.

The College at Brockport intends to completely renovate all the student bathrooms at Mortimer, Perry, Bramley and Briggs residence halls. Generally, the existing bathrooms are equipped with 1-watercloset, 1-shower and 2-lavatories . The work includes but is not limited to removal of all existing finishes and non-structural partitions (including pipe chases), removal of associated hazardous materials (asbestos & PCB's), HVAC ductwork, piping and exhaust fans (as needed), electrical systems, plumbing systems, plumbing fixtures and toilet room accessories. Improvements will include new low maintenance finishes , electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems that use less energy and fewer natural resources to operate. Construction of Bramley Hall is planned for Summer 2012; with Briggs and Perry to occur in Summers 2013 and 2014. Remaining funds to be assigned to Mortimer Hall renovation project; which will be performed in Summers 2015 and 2016.

Comprehensive renovation to restore the facade of BMCC's main campus building , located 199 Chambers Street. The scope of work includes column restoration, coping stone replacement, masonry face block replacement, lintel replacement, structural stabilization of the facade with steel pins, structural stabilization of exterior stairs, plazas and walkways, and operable window replacement, new glazing, flashing, sealant and expansion joint replacement as specified by CUNY. The work also includes the installation of a sidewalk shed and suspended scaffolding.

Enclose exterior plaza space and outdoor court adjecent to cafeteria on 2nd floor and convert the extension of existing student commons area. Research zoning, code and egress requirements.

City College of New York
For the design and construction to renovate the existing locker rooms and upgrade infrastructure systems serving the Marshak Pool area.

Conversion of the existing 2,390sf double height lecture hall space to four single height classrooms that will be accessed from the second and third floors of Baskerville Hall. Demolition of existing buildings for a new diagnostic, treatment, emergency and critical care facility for the renovation of clinical and inpatient areas in the MLK Pavilion at Harlem Hospital Center. Provide the planning, pre- construction, architectural and engineering design services and project management services necessary for the schematic design development for a new diagnostic, treatment, emergency and critical care facility for the renovation of clinical and inpatient areas in the Martin Luther King (MLK) Pavilion and for the infrastructure upgrade of MLK.

For the necessary renovations to complete the facility due to the hurricane.

John Jay College of Criminal Justice
Haaren Hall is being renovated to accommodate the move in often existing academic departments back in to Haaren Hall, John Jay College. This renovation includes approximately 51,637 square feet of new offices, classrooms, and a special collection space at the basement level for the library. The work will occur in selected areas of the basement, third, fourth, fifth, and 6th floors. New work will include demolition as required, work will include drywall partitions, acoustical ceilings, lighting, doors and hardware as well as alterations to the mechanical, electrical, tele-data, plumbing, fire alarm and security systems as required. The upgrade of the buildings mechanical system will include a tie in to the two ten inch existing chiller lines from the new building for chilled water services to supply the new units at the mechanical rooms of Haaren Hall.

Construct a new Visitor's Center proximate to the restored Louis Armstrong Ho use and Archives Museum in Corona, Queens in order to augment the House tour experience. The 8,500 GSF Visitor's Center will consist of an exhibit area, a gift shop, archive space and reading room; administrative support space, a conference room and an 80 seat auditorium that will accomodate a variety of a activities. Also, some space in the Louis Armstrong House will be renovated/ converted from it's current use as a gift shop/display area to a gargage/storage area.

Curtain wall, MEP upgrades and roof.

This phase of the project will renovate approximately 50,000 GSF so that the biology labs, currently located in Colwin, can be relocated to Remsen Hall. This project will provide state-of-the-art instruction and research labs for the Biology Department in Remsen Hall.

Queensborough Community College
The consultant will provide a study and develop it to account for the assembl y and egress requirements, program and code compliance, enclosure considerati ons, structural systems (existing building, roof, new columns, steel framing approaches) and adaptability of the open courtyard to a fully enclosed glass domed dining area. In addition, the report will include detailed cost estimat es and two schemes for a complete project of an enclosed dining area, kitchen , servery, and bathrooms.

Design and construction for the replacement or new installation of building s tep down transformers, associated wiring, switchgear, transfer switches and g enerators for the RFK Gymnasium, Service Building Administration Building, Sc ience Building, Technology Building, Humanities Building, Library and Student Center.

York College
Remediate ground water infiltration at the subbasement of the York Academic Core Building.

This project will provide upgrades to the interior and exterior of the Colleg e's Academic Core Building (ACB. Phase I scope will include: 1) Install de- watering (pumping) system for the basement of the ACB, which contains the cam pus's electric distribution equipment. 2) Provide improvements to the inter ior and exterior public spaces of the ACB, to include: a. Feasiblity study for repainting of the entire atrium area, including railings and structural members. b. Feasibility study for lighting upgrades to atrium. c. Purch ase and installation of furniture (fixed tables/chairs) for the exterior plaz a areas near Guy R. Brewer Bldg (160 St.). d. Purchase and installation of new cafeteria / dining area furniture (tables/chairs. e. Feasibility stud y for relocation of airplane sculpture, currently located in atrium in front of the main entrance, to a more appropriate location in ACB.

Construction of new +/- 180,000 gsf 5-story courthouse with adjacent +/- 690 space 4-story Parking Structure in downtown St. Georges. The Courthouse will contain 14 courtrooms (5 Criminal, 6 Civil, 3 Lower) with Department of Corrections holding cells for 54 prisoners.

All windows and skylights need to be replaced and the exterior masonry needs to be repaired. Replacement of original doors and original windows with new operable type, including new framing and flashing and exterior masonry repairs and restoration. Windows are to be replaced by high eficiency glass (low-E) and extruded frames. Masonry Work to include but not limited to: re-pointing , brick and brick lintel replacemnt, weep-hole restoration, thru-wall flashing and repairs to penetrations, inspection and replacement of anchoring systems and expansion/control joints,etc.
