DrChecksSM (Internet Based Design Review System)
Starting January 1, 2011, design reviews performed by DASNY Planning, Design & Quality Assurance and Code Compliance staff will be transitioned to an Internet based design review and checking system called DrChecksSM. DrChecksSM is part of a suite of applications originally developed by the Army Corps of Engineers and accessed at www.projnet.org.
As new project submissions are submitted for review, the Design Professional of Record will be notified of DASNY’s intent to use the DrChecksSM system for a specific review and will be provided with access to the system in order to respond to DASNY’s design review comments. Please refer to the attached instructions for use of DrChecksSM in responding to DASNY design review comments. Other interested parties involved in the project will be provided with view-only access as required and as requested.
During the phase-in period for this new system, there may be questions and concerns regarding this change. Please direct general questions and concerns to Lou Cirelli at lcirelli@dasny.org for Upstate projects and Sam Ciraulo (sciraulo@dasny.org) for Downstate projects. Questions regarding system access for specific projects should be directed to JoAnn Gaudio (jgaudio@dasny.org) for Upstate projects and Heather Driscoll (hdriscol@dasny.org) for Downstate projects. The DrChecksSM call center contact info is:
staff@RCEsupport.com & training@RCEsupport.com
800-428-4357 & 217-367-3273
Staffed hours are Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm, Central U.S.
The following additional information regarding ProjNetSM and DrChecksSM is from the ProjNetSM website:
What is ProjNetSM? The PROJect extraNET (ProjNetSM) is a web service that allows the secure exchange of design and construction information among authorized business partners in the context of specific business processes.
Benefits: The use of the ProjNetSM suite of applications has been demonstrated to provide a number of tangible project benefits. DrChecksSM, for example, has been shown to (1) reduce meeting time and cost, (2) eliminate collating of comments submitted in a variety of formats, (3) promote participation by facility managers and owners, (4) and speed reviews. Design Architect/Engineer firms interviewed have stated that the use of the program saves them time and effort, and results in a higher quality design.
